Saw it tonight on my friend's mondo home theater setup.Right, yeah, review this thing... Well, I think South Park is pretty funny, and the South Park movie was so horrible (as in horrifying) that it was brilliant. This was more hit and miss.
Writing was a bit uneven. The some of the voice acting was clumsy. Pacing was off. Some of the jokes didn't have good follow through.
On the positive side, the action scenes were hilarious, the songs were outstanding ("When you need to show the passage of time, you need a MON-TAGE!") Pretty much the whole movies is a blow at Hollywood and it's cheesy involvement with politics. Of course there were many impersonated celebrities, and of course they die in graphic bloodbaths.
The only thing keeping this from being rated X or NC17 or whatever they call it now, is that the actors are puppets. Pretty much everything that would give a live action movie an X rating is shown. Not for kids or the squeamish. If you like South Park this might be worth a look, otherwise it's an optional watch.
Absolute rating: 55/100 (Bonus 5 points for the hilarious Team America theme song)
Follow Ups:
First off, I sat through it! (I’d rather watch grass grow than something boring) so this little freaky film kept me interested.
I'm a strange one, I don’t mind watching rockets blow up a truckload of terrorist puppets, but I do mind all the south park language and ridicules sexual scenes, so the thought of these writers to including a golden shower troubles me. They have to know that kids love animated things jumping all around, yet they toss in a bunch of stuff that most adults are not interested in watching. Not saying there were not a couple funny scenes.
They are funny, just a little too raunchy.
I watched it last night and thought it sucked (pardon the pun). I did get a few laughs from it, but I had some pretty great expectaions which not only were not fulfilled, but trashed. After seeing the previews and talking to a South Park fan when it first came out, I thought it had to be funny but it was just stupid. Some of the gags like the F.A.G. was funny and the opening scene where the dorks blow-up the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre in order to kill four terrorists while expecting praise and support from the French people. The rest was "dumber than a bucket of hammers" while still managing a few slap-stick moments of simply disgusting puppeteering. I wasted $4.25 renting it and nearly two hours watching it.

Which version did you see? there are several out there. I don't know what the difference between the rated and unrated versions is, as far as what footage is added. I was told some of the puppet gore and puppet sex was deleted, but I can't confirm it.
Yes, the jokes were hit and miss-some were good some not so good. All were pretty crude. Some gags went on too long, and I never forgot that I was watching puppets.
I got a few good laughs out of it, but I won't bother watching it again.
Jack
was a golden shower during the sex scene.(Now Patrick and Victor are going to rent the unrated DVD for sure)
"Where are we going? And what am I doing in this hand basket?"
I live in a land where there are only un-censored versions.....

.
I thought it self evident and therefore didn't require a winking smiley face.

I'm not sure which version it was, probably the unrated version, as there were a whole bunch of puppets exploding and bleeding, and the sex scene was pretty long. The jokes were pretty crude, but implemented in rather clever ways. I guess I'm a sucker for "intelligent crude" humor.
