Saw this one last night (for some reason, my date didn't want to see "Coyote Ugly"). It takes a LOT to insult my intelligence, and this film has a LOT of insult. Not just cliche-ridden, but idiocy-ridden with massive doses of corny ideas. Zemeckis has never made a film this awful, so I wonder if the studio insisted on the ridiculous ending(s). I don't blame Pfeiffer and Ford, much as I don't blame the window mannequins at a department store for making clothing look ugly. The story, dialog, and the direction just plain sucked in this film!I don't know if this is the worst film I've seen this year ("Mission To Mars" is tough to beat), but it was the most frustrating to watch.
Next time, I'm going for "Coyote Ugly" or "Geezers In Space".
Follow Ups:
Formulaic and not as much of a kick as I'd hoped it would be, but still a fun movie.
A fun movie with some merit. I'd rank it in the "Wing Commander" catagory. The caliber of character presence eminating from these actors (who were obviously enjoying themselves) carried the film. I wasn't convinced to see it until I heard Tommy Lee Jones was there. I couldn't mesh the character of Sutherland, Eastwood, & Garner in my head to hear jackpot. It wasn't until I heard Jones that I saw three cherries. I'm glad I saw it, but wouldn't buy it.However, I don't think I'd opt for "The Crew" (aka "Geezer Mobsters") that was advertised. Dryfus is the only actor there I'd be drawn to, & his character would be undermined by Reynolds, IMHO.
