I just watched that recently primarily to revist Ed. Bagley Jr.'s death scene. I'd remembered seeing it on cable when I was a kid and it scared the hell out of me. I still think it's one of the more shockingly violent scenes I've seen in film.

I think the movie's pretty cheesy overall (the opening, "dreamy" "historic" sequences, esp.), but the cast is retroactively interesting, and, well, Kinski.... And she was dating Schrader at the time, apparently. Something of a head-scratcher to me.
