We watched "Constantine" last night. It was pretty good overall having some fun and some creepy moments. The actors were not so convincing and the role was probably miscast anyway as he seemed too young for someone that had such experiences. You had to swallow that and accept that it was just Hollywood to get further along. Of course, the special effects were great and the sound, although very good, was extremely dynamic and my wife could not hear the dialogue, so when you turned it up, the loud scenes were truely loud! As it was fantasy, you can't really grade it on historical accuracy, which it does try to base itself on in some regards. Interesting insights into the supernatural and a rather fast paced action make it worth a few bucks. One thing that caught my eye was that Constantine had a pair of Tannoy D500 loudspeakers in his otherwise dumpy crib!

Follow Ups:
I was just thinking about Constantine - I was watching Coppola's "Dracula" last night and it struck me how good the film was , LESS Keanu Reeves. Oldman was riveting, Hopkins gave a wonderful quirky performance and the film was fun - with unpredictable shadows , buckets of blood and erotica and buxom Vampira's. Despite these elements , I turned the film off in the middle ! I was so annoyed by Keanu's blatant California surfer accent , bad acting and poor .... well EVERYTHING!
I thought the same of Constantine. Constantine was fun to watch , occasionally scary and was attempting (in my opinion) to be a bit more then your average Hollywood mainstream mind fodder. All this of course was undermined by Keanu Reeves , who stumbles in & out of character so quickly that the viewer is left confused and *under*whelmed by whatever character he plays. What if an ACTOR like Christian Bale played played his part (and Howard Hughes instead of Leo for that matter!)
Is Keanu such a box office draw that film makers sidestep his acting talents and allow him to ruin films? Or in the case of borderline films like “Dracula” and “Constantine” he drags them from respectable to dreary.
HE'S WRECKING MOVIES! Imagine every flick he's been in having starred someone else instead. They would go from bad to average, average to good, and good to great! Each one would have taken a sizeable step up. I think Matrix(part one) would have been EVEN COOLER with a decent person in that role. Even HE couldn't wreck that one.
