35 minutes. Sorry, but when they "escaped" from within by running away from such a well-organized security system...poor, unimaginative writing.
Of course, that half an hour of boredom could just as easily have been covered in a few minutes by a skilled director with a decent script: with a trite little story, nothing was left to do but glacially pace the thing, with the usual huge helping of overblown music, LOUD noises, and lots of pointless running. I don't know if Scarlett ended up doing anything "interesting" but love her as much as I do I couldn't bear (bare?) to watch anymore.
Follow Ups:
Johannson running around in a tight jumpsuit was the only bright spot in this steaming pile.
yes, this is a fiction/action film, but even after suspending belief I still had trouble with the falling 'R' scene. Not only did they fall the tremendous distance, but they did it flailing around in a chunk of twisting metal, cables, and whatever else. Thank goodness for that net thingy at the bottom. I think one of them did have a cut on the face after the ordeal though.
Perhaps this is why Michael Bay said "Fuck the critics!"
Rob CThe world was made for people not cursed with self-awareness
There are countless movies that take a while to work themselves. Plenty of LOUD noises later in the film but those were the parts I DIDN'T care for because they had the modern 'choppy, grainy and stumbling' camera shots to convey action. Yes, the characters were quite lucky having not been caught fleeing every antagonistic element under the sun, and a joke to that effect was made later in the film. You may have been happier if you'd stayed and walked out 5 min BEFORE the end. Sorta like a weak portrayal of Logan's Run but without Ustinov. Still glad I saw it though.
I liked this one and found the action sequences very well done.
Loud noises? Well and you did like war of the Worlds?
Curious.
a purpose and didn't just occur to make one jump up out of a reverie.
The Island is a catastophe: a "boom-bang" after 30 minutes of snail paced plot "movement" doesn't provide much of a thrill. Abominably written piece of re-cycled sci-fi flotsam.
