Kathleen Turner is unhappily married to salesman Nicholas Cage and at their 25th high school reunion she faints and wakes up 25 years earlier. She retains her adult looks but others perceive her as a teen ager. This time instead of dating Cage she gets involved with the school geek (who she tells all about future inventions) and the school beatnick (who she sleeps with after getting high on pot she found in the hem of her adult dress. Toward the end the film gets a little metaphysical as her grandfather's Masonic temple performs a ritual which eventually send her back to her own time to reunite with Cage. This is an entertaining thought provoking film directed by Francis Coppola. Anyone who's ever been to a reunion will recognize many of the happenings and characters.
Follow Ups:
Agree with you on this one; one of my guilty pleasures
I think Kathleen Turner does a great job of playing the teenager too; far better than Cage does as an old guy in this one
"I'm going to England to discover the Beatles" (Yeah, wouldn't we all!)
and she laughs at her Dad for buying an Edsel...Others films that explore this theme well are Christopher Reeves "Somewhere in Time" and Malcolm McDowell in a version of Jules Vernes "The Time Machine"
