    I don't know what it is about Mann, but there seem to be 2 kinds of people, ones who think he's genius and others who think he makes pretentious cr#$.

    I thought "Heat" was a good time-filler but found the characters completely unrealistic despite the (over)acting by DeNiro and Pacino (ESpecially Pacino)..

  superb editing, deep characterizations realized by talented actors at the height of their games...a superb movie to be compared to very good efforts in any genre.
  Why it didn't garner more critical raves I don't know. Certainly ranks with Bullitt, and that's saying a lot.

    An underrated filmmaker, but with lots of experience under his belt and slated to produce many more films
