Kevin Spacey is terrific in this study of the life of Bobby Darin, who died far too early but packed quite a career into his short life.
The film is organized as more of a making of than a straight show biz biopic. The high and low points of what happened to Darin are covered and the music is wonderful.
Follow Ups:
I thought this was a terrific film with in interesting stylized aproach to telling the story. I found it far more creative than the more conventional biopics of the same year, Ray and Aviator. To bad the audience didn't get this one. That kid was amazing as was Kevin Spacey.
A similar construction can be found in "De-Lovely".
...it's worth seeing Spacey channel Bobby Darin. Some critics said he did a better job of singing Darin's songs than Darin did. Otherwise, his life wasn't interesting enough to support a movie - there's not much to it and it's boring. Spacey only made the film (he did everything) so he could show off his singing.
