The piece you are looking for from the demo at the beginning of the film is from a popular singer whose discs are often used to demo equipment in the region. The Pinyin version of her name is Cai Qin, and the English title of the song in question is 'Those Were The Days'. Can't help with the interconnects, sorry..I wasn't paying attention, and it's been a few years since I saw the film.
