The sleepy film has certain charm, and some interesting observations, but watching Anouk Aimee in it is not a pleasant occupation.Fortunately several other actors will let your eyes rest - Elina Labourdette comes to mind. And Marc Michel is cast well, in his role of aimless wonderer.
Overall - an easy recommendadion for an earlier work of the maker of Umbrellas of Cherbourg.
Follow Ups:
Umbrellas of Cherbourg...One of the most boring film ever....
That is exactly how I remember the Umbrellas too, but very recently a friend, who is a somewhat savvy movie buff, rated it as one of the best movies ever, or something close. That shocked us, but so far we have resisted the temptation to try it again.
Lola is way above the Umbrellas. As I said, it does have promise, and some of the characters are quite palpable, and the mood is well defined too.
Well your friend must somehow have been in love when he saw it.
I tried to saw it a second time, but I flew away as fast I could from it.
If one think it may be a " cult " film then....
