I don't venture over to this board to much, but last night I caught American Movie and am just so impressed with it. If you do not like independent films, read no further. It is a bit long, but is so incredibly fascinating because of it's brutal honesty. Its about the struggles of an independent lazy fillmaker in wisconsin and his close circle of friends and family. Detailing their low income living, escapades with drugs and alcohol, kids, cops, each other, but above all the artistic drive all along to pursue his dream of filmmaking. Very highly recomended.
Follow Ups:
I got a big kick out of it too. I found it to be suprisingly uplifting.
One of the most overrated movies of the past year.Try Frederick Wiseman for some good documentaries. His films are difficult to find, though.
