rottentomatoes has two sections -- one with all reviewers and then on the right side there is a special section called "the Cream of the Crop" which has all of the major critics. That being said Emanuel Levy is not in the Cream of the Crop section and he writes far better than some of the others writing for the newspapers.Metacritic is the other which gather up all the major critics and then has a formula to interpret how high they rate a film on a scale to 100.
Follow Ups:
I have always liked Peter Travers' reviews.
Rotten tomatoes is a help to get access to critics who would otherwise go unknown. I have followed Travers and a few others in the cream of the crop section for a while. I also like Swartzbaum, Emanuel Levy(who should be but itsn;t int he cream of the crop secion). It's sad that Levy isn't there but Beradinelli IS. Levy taught film school has written several film book over the last 30 years while Berardinelli rights relatively formulaic reviews and has no real background.
