In Reply to: Re: Yeah, we saw different movies. "Bluest movies" you've ever seen? posted by Analog Scott on September 17, 2005 at 23:27:11:
"blue movie" has a definite meaning and it is porn.
Still, even though you are incapable of using the term correctly, that necessarily doesn't mean your assertion is wrong. But it is.
Hollywood puts out any number of movies every year with "bluer" dialogue, a most recent example being "Bad Santa." And BS had a lot more explicit sex scenes, too. In fact, INNUMERABLE Hollywood movies did, and just this year alone.
And (sorry, can't resist)... uh, comedies can have "messages" or morals. Probably more effective because a person's guard is down.
You got hit over the head so much with this movie's message it numbed you. Ok, time for you to go back and play with YOUR action toy collection.

I sugget you step down from the soapbox and get your facts straight. Here is what the aol dictionary says about the meaning of "blue"
< < Back to Results

7 a : PROFANE, INDECENTb : OFF-color, risqué
8 : of, relating to, or used in blues
- blue·ly adverb
- blue·ness noun
- blue in the face : extremely exasperated Pronunication Key
"profane, risque and indecent" is what it says. No mention of porn anywhere. So mow maybe *you* can start understanding the term correctly. No charge for the education, this time.
" But it is.

The bottom line is that, like the quality of the humor, the blueness of any given movie is subjective. I found this movie to be one of the bluest ones I've ever seen. Bad Santa is up there too. Bad Santa OTOH did not spend nearly as much time dealing with sex in such raw terms as did 40 year old virgin. For you to argue with my opinion is really quite absurd. It is *my* opinion regardless of *your* opinion.
"And (sorry, can't resist)... uh, comedies can have "messages" or morals."
Indeed they can but it seems you didn't actually understand the meaning of my post. I didn't say comedies can't have messages or morals. I said you seem to be confusing a comedic premise with a message or moral stance.
" Probably more effective because a person's guard is down."
How can it be effective when it isn't even there? Do you know who these guys are that made this film? Are you familiar with their work? Calling this movie Christian right wing anti sex propaganda is like calling Life of Brian a pro Christian movie. What is going through your mind that you believe the makers of this film were trying to get people to think sex is bad and act accordingly? How clueless does one have to be to come up with that ridiculous idea?
"You got hit over the head so much with this movie's message it numbed you."
Are you one of those guys who is obsessed with conspiracy theories? Maybe you should look into the film makers' backgrounds to see if the 700 club sponsered this movie. Oops if you did that you'd find out these guys are sketch comedy players with largely liberal beliefs and have spent many a sketch on making fun of right wing religious views. Dude, the whole movie came about with these guys working on a sketch idea about guys sitting around a table talking about their freakiest sexual experiences and one guy has nothing to offer so he adlibs a bunch of patehtic nonsensical made up experiences. That scene is in the movie. Hardly a master plan to get out a message that sex is bad. If there is a message it is that bad sex is funny.
" Ok, time for you to go back and play with YOUR action toy collection."
Idiot, any collector knows that you keep them in the box. You really weren't paying attntion to the movie were you? You got so caught up in your conspiracy theory that you missed a good movie. Watch JFK again and get your fix.
...the question has been answered by example.

have no sense of humor; b) you cannot seem to understand that comedies indeed may have messages; c) this one had one as subtle as the object with which your skull came into contact at some point in your life rendering you unable to cogitate (look up "blue movie" next time, ace).
I especially like when a poster defers to the "you can't argue opinions" white flag. As Billy Bob would say, "What the fuck are YOU arguing about then, asshole?"
Now, that's Billy Bob's opinion. I don't mean, in any way, to suggest that what you post is as solid and substantial as a turd.
