Have you seen any DVD's lately? I'm not talking about 1-2 in a store demo either. Just like CD's, DVD mastering quality varies among titles and studios.I stopped into Best Buy the other day. They now devote 85% of the movie floor space to DVD. DVD is here to stay. Decent DVD players are below $300.
With all your LD talk, I'm suprised you don't listen to music via vinyl.

I would but a good TT just cost too damn much. I keep hoping that SACD will cure this for me.DVDs still look like network's rebroadcast of Stargate SG-1 to me. I constantly get distracted by the perception of moving pixels instead of moving pictures like a GIF files. & complete frame dropage which is extremely annoying. I agree with you that DVDs are here to stay. It just looks to me like the way original CD players sounded. I'm sure they'll eventually correct them. BTW, I agree some DVDs are just coasters. I'm not talking about those. Right now the biggest flaw are the expansion rates which makes me wonder what the CL-25 looks like with it's redundant parallel processing.
