This M. Night Shyamalan film is incredibly boring and indecipherable. I am glad I borrowed it from the library instead of buying it. I'm afraid I didn'r make it all the way,
Follow Ups:
I understand the critism of this film, but I must admit that I enjoyed The Village. Perhaps it suffers to some degree from comparison from his prior films, which were much more inspired. The structure was similar to his prior films, but the content was more interesting in those earlier films.

"Where are we going? And what am I doing in this hand basket?"
and I think Howard's daughter is an interesting new face. Phoenix has an unpredictability I enjoy, something a bit sinister about him.
Though I think the "The Piano" guy overdid his role, I thought the pivotal scene in the cabin with Phoenix's character was explosive.
This film is about moods, symbols.... almost had a Wim Wenders feel to it. You probably wouldn't like the Japanese After Life or Wenders Wings of Desire, either.
comparing "The Village" to Wim Wenders?!? You either saw a different version of "The Village" or a different version of "Wings Of Desire" than I did.
"Where are we going? And what am I doing in this hand basket?"
telling stories with a "message" and wherein symbols play an eminent role.
The Village, let's be clear, showed a group of traumatized individuals attempted to flee post-Paradise by creating a new one and how the seed of Cain and Abel (not to be too grandiose, or anything) accompanied them.
The innocence and courage of the girl moved me. Sorry, but I guess that makes me a sentimental schmuck.
Agree again with you.
Boring & silly.
Unfortuantely, I stayed to the end.
