late 1970's film based on the premise that H G Wells (McDowell) builds the time machine he writes about, and pursues Jack the Ripper through time to (then) present day San Francisco
Follow Ups:
I agree that Time after Time was an excellent film (directed by Nicholas Meyer, the same guy who directed the second Star Trek movie). Not sure if I'd call it a "remake" of The Time Machine, tho...
Hey, I remember that. I saw it only once way back then, so I don't recall much about it. I too favor the 1960 "Time Machine." I love Alan Young's ridiculous accent and Yvette Mimieux's everything.
On Dr. Kildaire. I even remember the segment's title, Tiger TIger. About a tough spirited babe with a terminal illness. Richard Chamberlin even eschewed his gayness to fall in love with her, only to return to gayness as she went to see Jesus at the shows end. Or something like that. Man did I have a little boy crush on that lusty grown up babe.

I guess being married to director Stanley Donen must agree with her! Not bad for 60-some!

Oh, yes, I remember that episode. Of course, I remember it now with Ms. Mimieux in a thong bikini the size of pocket square, when I'm sure if we looked at it again she would be sporting swimwear modest as anything in the First Lady's closet. And speaking of closets, in and out therein, Mr. Chamberlain gave an interesting account of Hamlet on television, also in the 70s. I guess that made Ophelia a beard.
Didn't seem to fit the big screen too well, but as for TV, always were pretty good. Some TV movies that stick out in my mind are Shogun, The Man In The Iron Mask, and The Thorn Birds. Wife absolutely adores him. Below are pictures from Dr. Kildaire. Check out Yvette at the bottom. Yer memory, like mine, recalled that bikini using today's standards.....
