...I really wanted to love this film, I really did. Ultimately, however, I found it to be rather dry, predictable and little more than a documentary. It didn't help that there were few gradations of grey, pretty much everything was black and white (and I'm not referring to the fact that it was filmed in black and white). Oh yes, you had the obligatory failure of Murrow to go after targets other than McCarthy, resulting in the suicide of another broadcaster, but I found this totally predictable within the context of the movie. And Paley's character had a bit of depth as he struggled with the competing imperatives of journalistic honesty and the need to keep advertisers. For me the only really bright spot of the film was the performance of the guy who played Murrow. He was simply brilliant!
Like I said, I really wanted to love this movie but it just didn't work as a movie. At least for me.

I loved her, and rushed out to buy the CD, which I imagine will be in the running for a Grammy. Her performance is so rich and strong, and so evocative of that era. To be honest, I miss that style of singing, and I hope her success with this CD will spurn some more great singers to release their own vintage vocal jazz CD's.Cheers!

The black jazzy/R&B singer who popped up throughout the movie? She had a nice voice but I'm really not into that kind of music so I don't think my opinion would be too relevant.

...Like watching Murrow himself.
