Just got it on DVD yesterday and it is way far better that the LD and of course the VHS.
It has something claustrophobic in a " Sartrian " way, very well played, and near the " Ten Angry Men " in a way.
The only missed is being create during war time, it has a little a bit of a propaganda taste.
Still excellent!
Follow Ups:
the eulogy part is my favorite. Whole setting on a lifeboat, try
comparing it recent "Phonebooth" and it's a classic.
You mean the 2002 Schumacher film? In what way compare?
In the "Phonebooth", except for the begining, and the ending, Schumacher tried to do the whole setting at the phonebooth and the
street nearby, and the movie failed miserably. I think
Hitchcock is the master of this one location setting. He used it in
films like Lifeboat, The Rope and Rear Window.
Add " Number 17 " and we may have nothing left....
Yes and yes! This eulogy is so strongly recited! No play it again Sam...Just art of an actor, and what one!
Phonebooth?
I will check.
