While going through some obit. articles on Pat Morita, I read about how he got the Karate Kid gig as kind of a fluke.Apparantly, the director wanted Toshiro Mifune (huge Japanese star of
samurai flicks, a "Japan's John Wayne") but Mifune wanted too much $. Pat Morita apparantly had to audition multiple times to get the gig.If Mifune played Mr. Miyagi, wouldn't that have been a little weird?
