My son has seen the previous 3 installments, and he and I have read the GoF together, so he knows the story. However, I can imagine that the film treatment could either be fine or too scary for an 8 year-old (esp. the bit in the cemetary). Can someone comment on the "scare factor" or suitability for younger ones? Thanks.

Follow Ups:
I had a hunch it would be too much, esp. given the PG-13 this time around. The kids don't see other PG-13 films yet, so this should be no different I suppose. He just really enjoys the Potter series, so I was considering bending the rules. He'll see the DVD in a couple of years. Thanks again for the comments.

Myself at 8...no.Your son - since he already knows what happens, he may be just fine. There are some very intense sequences - the first task is ramped up quite a bit, the graveyard scene at the end is a bit scary - but if your son can handle LOTR, he should be fine.
Very brutalizing imagery in the cemetery footage. If you are really serious about this, see the movie, yourself, before deciding to allow your son to see it.
