In Reply to: "This is like nominating Colt 45 the Best Wine." Ummm, if LoTR is a Colt 45 then your wine is a flintlock pistol. (nt) posted by Audiophilander on December 5, 2005 at 10:55:52:

But only because it was a French invention.
*Sigh* - It's a shame that you're so intolerant of art you don't appreciate or understand that you can't even respect the popularity of these films much less recognize that they've already become classics in the eyes of much of the world. I guess there's so much bitter salt on your cinematic caviar that you're inclined to rub it in the eyes of those who've never acquired a taste for sturgeon eggs.
AFAIC, you two can spread your grey-poop-on cine mon schtick until Roberto Benigni humps your leg. If you want to play virtual pattycake with melodramas about chocolat, romantic villas in the south of France, or Greece or Italy, misunderstood relationships that are never resolved, etc., hey, who am I to critisize your tastes. OTOH, the rest of the world will continue to enjoy beautifully filmed movies that are also fun, even epic escapist fantasy fare like the LoTR trilogy.> > > "Flintlock? - But only because it was a French invention" < < <
I'm sure that Victor will say that your point is well taken, but I suspect you're more interested in his muzzle than he is in you're breech. At any rate, it's obvious that you're pretty inventive when it comes to igniting Victor's spark! ;^D
AuPh
Am I ? ( intolerant ) or are you in thruth the culprit one who could and should be accuse of?
I should pick up every and each one of your post and marking you with the infamous words of intolerance, every time you did dislike a film.My dear the " intolerant " is you. Every man on earth ( and woman BTW ) is entitle to his own opinion. But I know why you act this way...Deep down in you there is this voice telling you softly....Man, they are right, LoTR is real ...merde.
Forget for all time to comes your pseudo rest of what you mistakly took for a a breath of your own remaining youth, this ainīt no magic in this one, there are mostly only " calcul " and Hollywood.
As for " the rest of the world " if you look to the numbers of people not going anymore to the cinema and what kind of movies they do see if they go at all, you will recognise that the " digital " experience is in this way, coming to and end.
" People " are just sick and bored of it.
They now want what we did preach all this years. Intimate movies.Donīt be jealous. Victor and I still loves you. From both end.
> > > "Every man on earth ( and woman BTW ) is entitle to his own opinion." < < <Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean that every opinion should be EXPRESSED, regardless of how rude or condescending, without expecting criticism in return. My responses are measured by the calibre of the post I'm replying to; if you haven't figured that out by now then you never will.
BTW, both of you grey-poupon trifflers are quick to drop in smart-arse comments about LoTR and other fantasy & SF films whenever the opportunity presents itself, but neither of you have watched this series in it's entirity, either the theatrical releases or extended cuts. This is something others here need to be made aware of: you're "informed" opinions about LoTR are based on brief cursory impressions, ill suited to be taken seriously.
The only film of any genre I recall ever having given such a partial critique is the almost unwatchable original version of Solaris, which some folks apparently regard quite highly. This film literally performs the function of Sominex every time I try to watch it; of course it doesn't help that Solaris is usually shown late at night on TCM, but I fear that earlier scheduling wouldn't change my reaction in any perceivable way.
But I digress.
When you and/or Victor issues drop in snotty or sarcastic asides about films that folk's have remarked positively about, it not only expresses your opinion, more often than not an uninformed opinion I might add, but it also insults the tastes of the viewer. I'm not just talking about reviewing films that disappointed you with a negative impression. You're certainly entitled to do that.
MY point is that far too often YOU & Victor demonstrate a personal dislike for certain films, ridiculing them as trash, "kaka", ineptly made and without merit, for children only, etc., etc., etc., which demeans not only the film or films, but the fan who happens to appreciate that particular film or film series. You're especially insulting of well reviewed films loved by the masses, as if the acclaim is unjustly earned and an instant black mark against whatever it is you're critisizing.
I'm sure that I've wasted my time giving you an ernest response, so I'll await your next troll post and react accordingly.
Have a nice day.
I never watch them? I mean are you gaga? I have wrote more than enough ( you too BTW ) on this theme. And of course I saw all of them.
That was torture enough. And in this case i must thanks Hollywood then I am quite confident without it we would have had an opus of ten hours falling upon us courtoisy of Mr. Jackson...No thanks.
No, it is no in relation to your would be retalition. You can not indefinitively hide behind others culs, mon vieux.
And yes you have. ( wasted...) but not because of what you may think.
Honey only because you take yourself so, but soooo earnst.....
Soooo, ERNEST? Just so you don't think I have a sense of humor about the grey poupon tastes you & Victor muster, see the image linked above!> > > "You can not indefinitively hide behind others culs, mon vieux." < < <
Save it for Victor, he apparently appreciates your coming from behind.
> > > "And yes you have. ( wasted...) but not because of what you may think. Honey only because you take yourself so, but soooo earnst....." < < <
This is why you get argumentum ad naseum rather than discussion. Yes, I'd much rather display serious appreciation for those films I care passionately about than to stand idly by while you & Victor brown-nose each other and cast a critical eye towards the tastes of others who visit this forum. Informed, intelligently rendered opinions and enthusiastic appraisal of all kinds of cinema are fine, but posting an endless stream of grey-poop-on cine` mon schtick that simultaneously trashes films admired by so many is NOT.
Would we even have our AuPh today if not for flintlocks?
