I had written on the profound effect that film had on me, and last night I again caught a few episodes. The effect was so strong I had to turn if off right away. The almost physical sensation of undeserved torture was more than I could handle.
The cold cruelty of the main character, coupled with her mostly soft voice creates a painful impression, and I can think of no other such film.
If you have not seen it - you must, and if you have - give me your impression.
Is Oleanna the face of our new modern times?

Because of this post I watched it again last night. It IS tortuous
and apinful to watch. I don't agree on her "soft voice", however. I found it screechy and unbearable.

    You are correct. Tortuous means twisting and torturous means painful.

But... the good news is that much has changed since the 90s. Enough frivolous suits have been thrown out and some went up the court "chain" to be defeated.
In OR, the zenith was achieved soon after Sen. Packwood (what an appropriate name) scandal when a manager was fired for looking at a woman's blouse!

  I think we all must admit the feelings or right and wrong are universal, not sex-based.
  There is an injustice in that movie, and I don't know how it can be turned into "justice".
