I agree with the minor quibbles about a little judicious cutting possibly benefitting the film, but overall it was artfully done and Peter Jackson actually managed to bring some freshness and depth to the story (through character development and insight into the awkward relationship between Kong and Ann Darrow) without descrediting the qualities that made the original 1933 version great.
