Smartest guys in the room - I believe that is the title?
Follow Ups:
Just saw it on the shelf at the local video store yesterday.
Yes, I just rented it a couple of days ago from Netflix.
I saw it. I give it a C + ... it was a bit manipulative. Like a Michael Moore flick.
...it was very well done and extremely effective in showing what went on inside the company. It appears to be a pretty accurate account according to all of the things I have read. Very interesting. Are there lessons here regarding ethics, greed and regulation of big businesses? No doubt.
That the Enron folks were involved with this adminstration as the largest contributor and the advisors on energy policy is just a coincidence - it could be any anti-regulatory, pro-business Republican administration.
There is no comparison to Michael Moore here. He takes some small facts and exaggerates them for effect. And some things that aren't facts as well. I find his films entertaining and humorous, but clearly over the line into propaganda pushing a point of view rather than factual reporting.
Not the case here - highly recommended.
Ahhhh - that bad, huh? I picked up a rental and will be watching it tonight. I'll post some thoughts tomorrow.
It wasn't *THAT* bad. It had some good investigative reporting. Perhaps I lack a sense of humor but "Enron" lost me when it showed imported stock footage of motorcycle racing to show the "boys being boys".
Michael Moore shoots himself in the foot this way as well. I wish he'd use more silences and footage to emphasize his perspective. Instead he uses occasionally immature, and almost always manipulative satirical commentary to make his points.
Personally I'm glad the Enron film and Michael Moore exist but wish the Liberal viewpoint wasn't made from an almost "child-like" perspective.
