I'm assuming, for his 70's vintage films, 'cause he hasn't put out much in the last two decades that I would consider worthwhile.Gosford Park was OK, I'm sure it would have been great save for the horrible sound editing. I understand he was going for a voyeristic style of filming, but rule one of sound editing is you should understand what people are saying. That scene where two people are whispering to each other at the end of an echo-y hallway, argh...
I hope he doesn't butcher A Prairie Home Companion. I forsee a crucial scene where you won't understand a conversation between two characters over the din of an outboard motor...

For the "Gosford Park" DVD I had to use the subtitles for the hearing impaired.I think "Cookie's Fortune" and "The Player" are wonderful later Altman efforts.
