What a terrible movie.
Mossad, one of the world's most scarey government terrorist organisations uses a bunch of beaurocrats and amateurs who prefer cooking big dinners as their prefered agents of revenge!
People laughed out loud when the main character, who spends half the film wandering round looking like Jim Morrison on a bad trip, bursts out crying when he hears his child's voice.
He just happens to know some anarcho-hippies who immediately introduce him to someone who knows how to find anyone on the planet.
He is given unlimited amounts of money to find people who aren't even hiding.
And these trained assassins who can't contemplate harming a child, blow up hotels and wander the planet disobeying direct orders killing anywhere and anyone they like.
Its an awful film that deserves all the derision it is getting.

My point was, and is, you seem to be going way overboard defending your position here. I've always been a believer in the saying..."Me thinks he doth protest too much!"I've taken contrary positions on films before, and others have on mine. Difference is, I expect, and want to listen to, contrary opinions. FRankly, it's quite fun, and, at a minimum, it's interesting. I don't fret about contrary opinions, and it causes me to actually review my thoughts on films I didn't care for. AS an example, I'm thinking I should see "Good Night etc" again to see if I feel any differently. I stop far short here as it relates to Broken Flowers though.
So, I repeat, why are you so defensive about your views on Munich? C'mon, look upon us as a form of encounter group.
I am not at all on the defensive about my views on thw film, but far too many of the replies are to do with politics rather than movie making.
I am more than happy to discuss politics but I know the board do not like political discussions.

You made some statements regarding the story - apparently you felt it was not accurate as far as how it happened in real life.So I would like to hear what those disprepancies were.
Or perhaps you simply have no idea what you are talking about, therefore the story looks unbelievable to you?
I have not seen the film, and likely will not until it is shown on cable, but I have heard people with knowledge about the events state it was basically accurate, albeit colored in the interpretive layer.
I commented that the characters are fairly unbelievable as assassins in the employ of a very efficient secret service.
Mossad is well known as a ruthless organisation which operates very efficiently, isn't it?
So enough of the "I know more than you know". Spill the beans or back down.
You are the type of guy who would laugh at this Mossad group, and would have the perplexed look on his face after they slit your throat. And they would have dined nicely after, discussing their next victim. The most heated discussion at the dinner would have been the choice of chianti.They would have concluded about you, as in Marathon Man....."he was candy".
It sounds like you have not seen it.
Its like hiring a knitting circle.

Propaganda == The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause.I don't see Spielberg taking a side in this film. Palestinians killed innocents period and no amount of rationalization justifies Munich. Isreal took revenge which feeds the cycle of violence -- Spielberg has no Pro-Revenge stance - though some of his Israeli assisins want and gleefully look for blood. Spielberg has several characters here -- some who qyuestion the morality of revenge others who are following orders. Spielberg is well tempered and reigned in here and is one of the least Spielbergian films I have ever seen.
Not wanting to kill kids is being human and even assassins are still human.
Spielberg gets blasted for being a sentimentalist because he likes to see optimistim in life - then when he makes a film that has no optimism and is bleak he gets blasted for propaganda? What exactly is Spielberg preaching.
Following this Palestine has "voted for" democratically no less a political party that wants to commit genocide on all Jews everywhere. Gee and people wonder why Isreal a country of ~6 million is paranoid when they're surrounded by several countries of over 400 million who want nothing but the total extermination of every last one of them!
It's too bad because as usual it's argument over religion (an idiotic belief in fairy tales) that has them all killing each other over "God's will"

Yes, isn't it odd how the Palestinians have reacted to nearly 60 years of Jewish/Israeli (and its the Israeli governments that have insisted on confusing those terms) attempts at their genocide.
