  You clearly haven't seen the Japanese version. In the American version, the later scene involving Richard Gear coming up the escalator with flowers and the scene where Gere shows up WITH his wife to the farewell party are simply a CRIME IMHO!

  Wife and I were pleasantly surprised at this one, too. But I would say "unpredictable" in that most Hollywood fare would have Gere and Lopez in an affair, but this time they merely had a deep friendship that supported each other.
