Look at which flicks make the most cash. Because the theaters are currently filled with award hopefuls does not mean that these movies are mainstream. Critics and moviemakers can prop up an "insightful, unique, contraversial" movie all they want, but G-rated and saturday afternoon adventures are what the masses will flock to. It's been that way for many years and probably will continue along that path, no matter what 'message' Hollywood tried to push on us. Passion of the Christ wasn't really mainstream either as it made loads of money, but Christian viewers were so happy to jump to it as the ball was finally hit into their court. And no, if you didn't see it, you aren't a "Christ-phobe".
