But I got to the theatre too late to see The Matador. So, I picked up a ticket for Ford's latest epic and sauntered in. What I didn't want to see was Harrison flying around the room throwing punches and karate kicks so I prepared myself for the worst. What a surprise! Ford played a man his age: wheezing, having to catch his breath, losing balance--everything a real guy would do in a physical confrontation. (I wouldn't be shocked to hear he had the script tailored that way.)
So, my pettiness allayed, I found the movie enjoyable with Harrison's usual dogfaced but user friendly performance. Virginia Madsen was good as the loving wife under duress and Paul Bettany was precisely malevolent as a high tech bank robber. There was some weak acting from some minor roles but all in all a good popcorn muncher. Besides, if you have gray hair how can you resist Ford?
