Well, it starts with the dreaded "You would not steal a purse??!!" video, and it is locked so your DVD player cannot skip it!!!Next a comemrcial for some knight in armor nonsense, I hit the "Next" button adn it wetnright to the film!! Either only one commercail, or jsut one "Skip" and it goes through ALL THE COMMERCIALS to the movie. That is a new one.
Short (thankfully) intro; no DTS option, just Dolby 3\2. Performances are absolutely excellent of the two leads, few minor errors, Cash's guitar player in Sam Phillips studio is playing a tele but the sound is that of strat. They are introduced as Johnny Cash and the Tennesee 2; but I thought initiallyt they were the Tennesee 3?
The guy playing Elvis is a litle too fruity. Sound is excellent, as it the picture. The blue shirts in the prison scene look the color of blue denim prison garb. Very well made DVD.
Excellent sound mix to give the sound both a monaural feel, but 5.1 surround. Phoenix does not sound at all like Cash, but it sounds like a bad singer like Cash, so, no big deal. The drug use is dealt with very graphically adn frankly, starting with beer and on the amphetamines.
30:00 is Jerry Lee Lewis singing some word I cannot udnerstand "Lulubelle?" (as proof it is the DVD).
Follow Ups:
Reese did a good job though - I was impressed by her performance. And the scenes with The Killer were quite amusing.
...it seems like you just want people to know you have an early copy of the DVD.
"Where are we going? And what am I doing in this hand basket?"
Every other aspect of the film I did discuss, other than the subtitling.

But I still think you like for people to know you have early dvd's.;-)

I have to agree with you about these ads. Let it be known that I DO NOT advocate burning DVDs and CDs, but I dislike this ad to no end. It's too extreme...
I just get the sense that the next scene will read something like this:
"You wouldn't punch your grandmother in the mouth, and then burn her house to the ground, would you?!
Then don't download music..."
Come on
"Music is God's gift to man, the only art of Heaven given to earth, the only art of earth we take to Heaven."
-Walter Savage Landor
... is what is said on the advert here.
GOSH! I'm glad someone told me that, I could have gone my whole life without knowing
But its all weighed down even further with the "downloading pirated movies"... schtick, which makes the thing almost meaningless.
"Prohibited User Operations," the instructions on commercial DVDs that prevent the user from skipping or fast-forwarding past the increasing ammount of junk at the beginning of a DVD. Some DVDs won't let you skip the coming attractions! The industry is just giving consumers one more reason to rent and burn a DVD (removing the junk in the process) instead of purchasing it.
> Let it be known that I DO NOT advocate burning DVDs and CDsBy "Burning" I think you mean "Ripping/copying."
What is wrong with copying a CD or DVD if you own it? Of course, copying a DVD may bypass it's copy protection technology which is a violation of the DMCA, although copying something you own is technically legal.
My friend makes copies of his favorite DVD's, ripping out the extra audio tracks, menus, and advertising, so when he puts the DVD in, it begins playing the movie immediately.
With all the extra, nonsensical laws 'protecting' the copyright of the movie studios and recording artists, it looks like the law of first sale is going the way of the dodo. Really, these laws don't prevent piracy, as you don't need to crack any encryption to duplicate a DVD.

But you are forced to watch it in "Walk the Line". VERY GOOD movie by the way, Robert Patick was very good as the vil father, but not all that different from his Termiator role. No emotion, just anger. But lots of good dailogue. Reese can sing too! Goofiest looking thing I have seen in leading lady, but she can act.(The DVD layer switch was while Johnny watched the sky sitting in his back yard, and saw an eagle flying).
