If the original was in stereo or Dolby Surriound then yes, I would want it uodated to Dolby Digital or DTS. Even a mono movie like "The Terminater" benefits enormously from a 5.1 mix. But don't mess with "Casablanca" or "Citizen Kane".I think the best codec of all is dolby Pro Logic II music. I play all stereo material through it (FM, lp's, cd's, laserdiscs, cassette tapes) and it is like updating my entire collection of music and movies.
