Pulled out the director's cut of this film ('84) noir by the Cohen bros again for a viewing and still enthralled by many different facets - the orginiality of the shots, the plot, the pace, the wonderful acting, especially by M. Emmet Walsh.
John Getz as Ray kind of fizzled out into TV work (as did Dan Hedaya, the unfortunate husband) but is perfect in his role.
And, as a complement, I think I'll re-see Fargo with a pregnant Francis McDormand who, even if she's not a Salma Heyek, has more acting capacity in her left breast than the former....
I know: who cares? Nothing's simple.

Follow Ups:
still look forward to my next viewing. The Mpls. bros. were at their best right out of the box.
another great Frances McDormand filmWatch for great cameos by her as a secretary in Millers Crossing, and as a mother of some out of control kids in Raising Arizona
She's married to one of the Coen Brothers

The bullit holes in the wall with the light shining thru, the knife in the hand, the dragging of the body - so many excellent moments, yes i love this movie and Francis McDormand is quite fetching IMO
I liked this film... I need to watch again.
Great movie for first time directors- better than Spielberg's early efforts by far. Also one of M Emmet Walsh's best films. He scared the hell out of me in this role, so casually brutal.
Music is Emotion
Yes, he's really 'evil' in this film.
I will easily choose Selma's left breast. Blood Simple is a dark and haunting film. I need to see it again. Thanks for the recommendation.
Thanks for yours....sigh.
It is still in my top 25. It just shows a low budget movie can be excellent.I do like the original version better than the "Director's Cut". Better music at the right moments: "I'm a Believer" was changed, dialog: "Friday night is yankee night" was cut out, etc.
..of the differences - thanks!
