Seriously! I think that should be subject in itself thought in schools in the early age.We watched "Divided we fall," that brought up million questions in my eight year old.
Follow Ups:

DEVIL'S ARITHMETIC
DUARY OF ANNE FRANK
MAUS by ART SPIEGELMAN a graphic novel
It's not exactly a holocaust story but it definitely touches on it. It's about a holocaust study group that arose in a Tennessee Middle School and what happened in the aftermath of that, so it's actually a kid story. It's won many awards and has been playing in heavy rotation on HBO since Nov 9, a date that may mean something to you.I'm biased because I'm one of the co-directors of the film. It came out on home video on March 7.
Elliot Berlin
i heard about your movie, i'll definitely check it out. anything new in making?
Not making any new Holocaust-related films. Making one on the cost of war based on the experience of Bedford, VA, which lost more young men on D-Day per capita than any other US community. The film is about the town and how it has coped with loss, not about D-Day per se.Trying to finish a film about people who invent new musical instruments, for which I need to raise completion funds.
I've received a small NEH grant for a film exploration of the ancient Japanese novel The Tale of Genji, and it's vast influence over the creative work of other artists.
Hope to start soon (no kidding!) on a little independent doc about the wacky world of high end audio!! That one I'll shoot myself and I'm working with a good friend who's a field sound recordist.
Last, I'm doing a contract job directing a video for the US Army about the Army's new sex assault prevention and response policy.

That sounds like a bussy schedule. Were do you find time to post in the forums? The Tale of Genji! I alway wanted to read, but never got around. Time to visit amazon.com

p.s. i am an artis/painter, but I must say failed, as depression has gotten hold on me last couple of years. It is just a matter of me walking from this room to the next where my easel is...but no. not yet.
Reasonably busy, but it mostly spreads out across the calendar in an acceptable fashion. If you want to read the Genji I'd go for the most recent translation, by Royall Tyler. Available unabridged in Penguin paperback.

Perfect for kids as there's no cussing and it's non graphic, IIRC. The first, and IMHO one of the best, television mini series.
"E Burres Stigano"
It's the most comprehensive and conclusive study of the causes, effects, and the stories of WWII. Narrated by Sir Laurence Oliviea (sp?) and featues footage and comments from all sides of the war. Most-if not all- of the people profiled are long gone, making this series invaluable. Some of the film footage is disturbing so be warned, but it's all factual. The truth, no matter how distasteful, is always preferable to any film.
It might be impossible to find oneLife is Beautiful would be very good except for a few terrible, short scenes toward the end...
Nuit & Brouillard.
machinery pushing hundreds, if not thousands, of corpses into massive pits?
If so, under NO circumstances should any child see it, unless you want serious problems.
An Holaucost film show an the holaucost BTW.
I saw it back then EVERY year at the French Communist Party for the Xmas feast.
And I said to decide after parental guidance. You should have seen it when you were young maybe that would help you out with your closet anti-Semitism....
1955 movie. Thanks Patrick
Yes. I saw it with eight the first time. Needless to say, that you should see it first and judge if your child will cope and bear it.
