I never even heard of this movie until I just watched it. Tarantino is "executive producer," but really written/directed by Eli Roth ("Cabin Fever").I am not a squeamish guy. I enjoy a good bloody horror film just like anyone, but "Hostel" just made me sick to the stomach.
Follow Ups:
...there have been a number of these grizzly, gorey, ultra-violent films lately that push the limits of the 'R' rating (heaven forbid a flim should show any sex these days). A few that come to mind are:
Devil's Rejects
Saw I and II
Hostel
Hills Have Eyes
I'm sure there are others. What does this say about us as a society that these films are targeted toward the teenage and early 20s market who are buying most of the movie tickets these days?
Especially given the latest 'zombie-rave' massacre in Seattle?
I saw the poster in the cinema - the guy had just put it up & apologised.
I saw it was 'produced' by Tarantino and immediately put it on my 'out' tray.
Anyone who has to use Tarantino's name just doesn't make it in my books.
I love Tarantino but that whole thing just smelled too strong...poo!
I have absolutely NO interest in seeing it. I don't even see the attraction.

I had absolutely no idea what the subject matter was when I started seeing this movie. For about first half of the movie, I absolutely thought this was one of them European-trip, sex, nudity movies. There are some stunning-looking nude women in this picture, no silicone and all...You might want to enjoy the sight and just turn it off at half-way point when you see the first splatter of blood.
Watching that kind of a movie just isn't my idea of a good time. Hell, the trailers told me what to expect. Yea, nudity is nice, but not really a reason to see this.

I thought it was really, really bad and not nearly shocking, bloody, or grotesque as it was hyped. It's the Blair Witch of blood dramas, IMO, all hype and quick cut-aways.
