In a slow season for movies, sometimes a bad choice is made. The critics were split on this one. I thought I'd give it a chance.OK, it is the latest version of Fatal Attraction. Essentially 2 characters all the way through. Neither is sympathetic. What rang most false to me is the behavior of the 14 year old girl. She seems to be a criminal mastermind on the level of Hannibal Lecter. Everything is so carefully and perfectly planned out. It is preposterous. And there are a lot of jarring moments in her too-clever dialogue, for instance a reference to Roman Polanski. Is a 14 yo girl going to be talking about Roman Polanski? This is one brilliant 14 year old. It's basially a long grind through a graphic depiction of torment and a gradual revealing of the truth behind it all. There is the germ of an interesting plot here. But way too much clever banter mixed with mental and physical torment. I found this to be a most unpleasant way to spend a couple of hours. Both actors are fine at what they are asked to do FWIW, but nobody will be getting any award nominations here.

a considerably subtler dynamic. It is the same kind of idea of course. I was not a huge fan of The Audition, although I thought it was interesting. You could also make a comparison to the last segment of Three Extremes.
high voice singing "ting ting ting!"
Or, as the Japanese can't distinguish between L and R, it could have been "killy... killy... killy..."
Now that I think about it, The Crush w/ A. Silverstone seems similar as well.
