OK they did not say that in Hoodwinked but I did...I know this movie has been slamed in this forum but I enjoyed it and laughed quite a bit. The Little Red Riding Hood/Rashomon CGI movie worked for me but keep in mind I also liked movies like Mars Attacks and The Waterboy. For those that need it: Red goes to visit granny and wolfie is there instead and they have a visit from a lumberjack etc... Then the police arrive and they all tell their side of the story and things like minecars and avalances and a singing goat and Xtreme sports ensue. If you do not mind a movie that is both smug and silly spend 82 minutes of your time with Little Red Riding Hood and friends.
Follow Ups:
I watched it when It came to the local cinima, and now notice that its out on DVD. I might just rent it again. My wife and I enjoyed it.
I took my 6 yo twins to see Hoodwinked and I think I enjoyed it more than they did. It was pretty clever.I thiought Chicken Little blew chunks, though.
Right now they can't get enough of The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl.
I've seen two really neat animated movies lately, Wallace and Grommit and the curse of the Were rabbit and Hoodwinked.I thought they were both a hoot, and Wallace won the 2005 Oscar for best animated feature. But i thought Hoodwinked was every bit as much fun. Hoodwinked actually did about as well as Wallace and Grommit at the box office both over 50 million domestic and certainly made some money for the people who made them.
Part of the fun of both movies was the animation techniques which were not as slick as the typical big budget CGI films. Hoodwinked really charmed me in that regard.
I'm going out for the new Ice age movie tomorrow, but don't expect that will be as much fun. The CGI movie I'm waiting for is "Cars"
I think a person's enjoyment of it depends on how jaded they allow themselves to be. It certainly was not a "great" movie, but I don't think that's they were aiming for. It's a cute, fun, silly, harmless bit of entertainment for anybody who still has some kid left in them.Saw it last weekend... and I'm still chuckling over this one piece of dialog. I can't even explain why I think it's so funny, but I do:
Flippers (detective/frog): "Why do they call you Red?"
Red: "They call me Red because of this red hood I wear."
Flippers: "What about when you're NOT wearing it?"
Red (in a sarcastic whisper): "I usually wear it."
I also thought that creating the wolf/reporter in the style of Fletch was very funny touch for the viewers old enough to get it.
