While passable as a modern thriller this remake has none of the style, wit, and suspense of Zimmerman's earlier effort where even though you knew de Gaulle didn't get shot you still held your breath at the end. In this new one, Sidney Poitier is an Assistant FBI Director who leads a group of agents and sprung IRA terrorist Richard Gere to try to track down hired asassin Bruce Willis before he completes his latest hit. Some of the violence is gratuitous IMHO. 2/3 pull down clears up some blurry NTSC effects. Go back and watch the original instead.
Follow Ups:
I loved the (final) scene with Jack Black and the auto-tracking cannon!
That's the gratuitous violnce I mentioned.

Yes the first had class, the second was just vulgar.
