... they had worn masks throughout and as there were customers as well as employees held hostage, no one could know the difference.
As long as they kept quiet they were safe.
At least i think that is how it went.
I think some of them took turns pretending they were hostages to further confuse matters.
... the hostages were periodically moved from room to room and some were pulled from one group and put into another.
