I warned my friends not to expect much about the story line of the film. Well, I think it's about a spoiled girl, if you have a teenager you may agree with me! The Green Destiny Sword is interesting object of the film. The mighty sword is like power, fame, money and whatever we like to follow, but it's the very cause of suffering and destruction of life too when it is not handled properly.
The last scene seems to puzzle a lot of people and I'm one of them. Why she jumped into the mist? Tell me your own speculation.
Did she fall in love with Li MU Bai, as they show it while fighting in the bamboo forest?

I guess so. I watched the movie second time, and the fighting scene in the bamboo forest suggest some romatic affair between the two.
My interpretation (which is authoritative, of course):She was bringing Li Mu Bai back to life, while sacrificing her own.
Remember when she was told the story in the desert about a boy who jumped off Wudan Mountain to save his parents? He floated down, wasn't injured, and ascended to heaven. She remembers this and chooses to do so herself.
Li Mu Bai has in effect become her father.

I thought the same thing. But did the boy specified that it was Wudan Mountain? I thought the boy in the desert was talking about a different mountain? Why did she asked the boy to make a wish before she jumped? What did you mean that "Li Mu Bai has in effect become her father"?Too many questions, too little answers.
I believe the Wudan Mt. is located in south of Peiking while the desert is in north west. So, there is no direct connection between the boy's story and the girl's sucide(or, sacrifice?). The boy's wish was clear, to live with her, and she knew it. There is only one, if slim, feasible reason why Li Mu Bai wanted the girl to heir his lineage; she was so good at his Wudan martialarts. That's not good enough reason, however, for choosing a spoiled girl as own's heir because there never been a girl before as they said in their dialogs. So, whatelse really made Li to have her as his heir?
Li treated the girl nicely and protected her a couple of times including the last scene, from poison needles. So, he may treated her like a daughter, but it's not clear from the movie if the girl took him as a father figure or not.
