Was the script watered down so as not to totally enrage the Chrisitan population or was it more or less true to the book?
Follow Ups:
...and enjoyed the film. While it won't garner any Academy Award nominations, I found it interesting and well done, given the difficulty of translating the book to film.
Certainly they took some shortcuts - how many books have seen translated literally word for word into a film?
But the result is fairly true to the book - which is why the Catholic Church called for a boycott.
actings are robotic... cutting/editing managed to put in some trash into the movie.... sound/effects are so so only...it's a MOVIE and no "movie languages" were used above a average standard at all..
"Snow Falling on Cedars" and "Mystic River" are extremely close to their reapective books.
...IMO, the film failed to capture the poetic, lyrical feeling the book conveyed.
Two points...by including opposite side of the argument in the film, producer/director and the script writer have no balls at telling the story like what it is...
secondly, the biggest problem is this..anagram was never explained as to what it means to Leonardo... Mona Lisa was never explained as an anagram and this is to established the importance of Leonardo Da Vinci....else... who cares about The Last Supper, all the clue solving and the importance of divine feminine energy as represented by Mary M. and all the arts and history etc??so the movie didn't sell the story strongly, and it included what was never there to weaken its own argument.... it's bleached and dry washed..
plus the lusy directing and acting, it's a stinky bumb of the century..
Also, cutting/editing is a patch.
yeah I am still angry...LOL.....;-) I never thought it could be taht bad...

Sure, the subject matter will drag in the curious but it will be interesting to see what the numbers are for the weekend.
Ex nihilo, nihil fit . . .
...
Why? Because it made $224,OOO,OOO on opening weekend. I thought it was boring. It was not the bomb of the century. That's just a silly statement.
