"Laura," "The Killers," and the "modern" "The Long Goodbye" by Rob't. Altman also are excellent films.
Strangely enough, since you enjoy the genre so much, I'd recommend you check out some S. Korean/Japanese films. "Oldboy" would be a good place to start.
