One of ten best movies of all time. It is just amazing and so well made. Unlike anything you have seen before.
Beside the martial arts, if you don't fall in love with Jen at first sight, you'll be head over heels by the middle, and at the end you'll either cry or applaud - or both. GO SEE IT!!!

Correction: it's "Ashes of Time". Sorry
A little disappointed by the film. Much preferred "The Blade" , "Ashes & Time " or even "Iron Monkey". Not Chow Yun Fat's best or even second best work. See "A Better Tomorrow" or "Full Contact".
This is exactly what I was talking about ( here )From the american taste, it's somewhat peculiar. But it's perfect as a foreign film. Only have seen the previews, hopefully I get to see it soon.
All I can say is WOW! Go with an open mind and I dont think you could possibly be dissapointed. Those seeking a traditional action packed martial arts film will likely find it a bit too slow in pace and contemplative, but if you prefer a subtler approach this movie has so much going on between the main characters its hard not to find it mesmerizing. An interesting side note - this is the first film I've been to in along time in which A) the theater was packed and B) the audience stayed through the end credits. And this from a movie with subtitles playing in a mainstream suburban multiplex.
Definitley not a "Hollywood" cookie cutter movie...

Heh. Some of us find the older woman more attractive than the stuck up young brat, though. Not the "jade blossom" person though, no thank you.But I must agree. I don't eat feet either.
It was interesting watching the audience, much of the "American" audience didn't understand why the horse didn't come riding in just BEFORE the good guy died.
It's a tragedy, guys, not a western!

I too found Michelle Khan much more, er, uhm... interesting. The chemistry between her and Chow Yun Fat was a large part of what makes this movie work...joe
