this is a true account of a similar but much more horrifying incident.
As a little boy, Dieter saw American fighter planes strafing his tiny German town: he was awed by the sight and vowed to become a pilot.
Years later, he emigrated to the US, became a Marine pilot, and was sent to Vietnam. On his first flight, he was shotdown over Laos.
The film details the horrors of his capture, torture, and escape.
