The Patriot (last night) and Waking Ned Devine (a couple
of weeks ago).Perhaps Netflix is not such a great thing.
Follow Ups:
I wish I'd kept mine shut. Kubrick directorial impotence in his dotage.

Check out the www.netflix.com.It sounds good in principle, but apparently their stock is short compared to the demand.
was an "unlimited" renter for several months. here's the deal:first, about 20% of the discs are so badly damaged, that they freeze or break-up, forcing you to skip over a chapter or two or three or 30. Cleaning with Auric Illuminator helps some, but apparently most renters haven't a clue about "reasonable care in handling". The stupider the movie, the more likely this is to occur (ie "Matrix" is unlikely to be undamaged, although "Life is Wonderful" wouldn't play either!).
too many of the foreign films are from outside of the region your DVD player is authorized to read: meaning it won't even register that a disc is in the machine (load it, and see the "no disc" error code). apparently alot of "swapping" takes place (people trading their cheap illegal "foreign" DVD's for netflix Region 1 copyrighted discs).
If you like "blockbuster" releases, get pay-per-view cable or dish, because you will wait months to get them from netflix--long after your grocery store has the VHS.
expect a 20% price increase every 4 months or so, without a corresponding increase in service, selection, or quality.
their website bites the big one: slow, hard to navigate, and listing titles they never had, or have no intention of getting.
anytime you drop a DVD in the mailbox, you are wide-open to being charged full list price for "not returned" rentals. just try and prove otherwise.
do you need another reason to get a decent VHS deck (recommend the JVC S-9000 series)... In all the years I've watched film on VHS, I've NEVER had an evening spoiled because a tape froze or broke up or just wouldn't play. You just don't realize how good VHS is until you get a DVD player, thinking you can rent "good" films.

Check their classics and foreign selection - they have pretty long lists there. I have not used them, but if I had the memberhsip going that's where they excell - the stuff you can't get from your 7-11.
After Christmas, they're out of all the good movies for some reason...Did catch "Picnic at Hanging Rock" and "Raging Bull" last month though.
***After Christmas, they're out of all the good movies for some reason...So it sounds like another business that is just a facade then. Thanks for letting us know.
These were the top movies in my queue (I moved those first three up because they were in stock). It's been like this since around Christmas. I don't think I'll be keeping my $20/month subscription for long.Priority Title Status Remove

And to put it mildly, we may be to blame for one of those, we're watching it as we speak, I think. (unless it's just gone back). It's not Tampopo, which we have seen previously. HYSTERICAL, it is.
It's a truckdriver Japanese western.

This is a good list and little wonder that most of them are taken. What do you know about the Maborosi?
Netflix is a big scam.I and several of my friends tried the service from Dec 2000 to Feb 2001,and in this month they are ripping us off by almost $50 to 2 of us.
1. They first of all never let you have unlimited,as they claim that they have not returned your DVDs,and you can use the delayed in mail option for only one DVD.
2. Their DVDs often do not arrive on the dates they mention(even though they keep a 4 day-margin!!).Makes you wonder as to when they actually post them.
3. They claim they never received 4 DVDs and charged the guys for them(at outrageous prices). And despite repeated attempts(e-mails they never answer the question that if the receive a DVD later on do they acknowledge the same or not.
Believe me you are better off with a local store for renting DVDs.
I just started using Netflix.. I received the first DVD 2 days before they said it would be here (and I live in Nevada - NetFlix is in California!). I watched it last night, and dropped it in the mail today. I expect I'll receive another DVD to replace that one, by next Monday.
Meanwhile, I received two more DVDs today. So, if my calculations are correct, 3 DVDs a week, 4 weeks a month. That's 12 "rentals" for only $19.95 a month. That's certainly cheaper than a video store AND with no late fees!I'm happy so far..
I've been using Netflix for a almost two years now. Up until about 6 months ago, I was very pleased with their service. When they went to their new plan, the service has gone WAY downhill.Right now, all new releases have a status of, "LONG WAIT". It takes several months for the demand of the new releases to die down, before you'll ever get a new release. I have sent COUNTLESS emails to them complaining about this, and I always get the same response. "We are working with the studios in trying to get more titles. We are constantly trying to improve our service to you. Thank you for your enquiry.".
I wouldn't count on having 4 new movies every week. It often takes them 1 - 1.5 weeks to receive your DVDs once you send them back. Once they receive them, since your top picks will more than likely have a "LONG WAIT" status, they will wait at least 24 hours before sending the next movie. I've waited as long as 4 days for them to send the next movie in my queue. Then you wait another 3-5 days for the movie to arrive. So, quite often, from the time you send a movie in, till the time you get it's replacement, it's often 1.5 - 2 weeks later.
They have a great idea for a service here, but until they start carrying more copies of each title, it's not worth the money. I can run down the street and get the new releases. They're always in stock, and I don't have to wait 4 months to get them!
I concur with PeteD.On top of that, they've resorted to another of their stupid
schemes of late. For multi disc movies, they ship the discs
SEPARATELY ! Take "Lawrence of Arabia" for example. This is
a 2 disc set. You have to put each disc individually in the
queue. Then there is no guarantee that both will ship at the
same time. Whether you get disc 1 first or disc 2, you're
stuck.Of all the braindead ideas they have so far, this one takes
the cake.
My Japanese girlfiend wants to see it... she says the lead actor is good.
...certainly enough to justify looking it up.Best of luck with your list - it is unforutnate you have to go that far to get them, I can get them locally for $1 ea. Well, except for the Seventh Seal, and I would LOVE to see that one again.
And thanks for the new name - I will definitely check it out. Perhaps your girlfriend would settle for "Woman in the Dunes" in the meantime? A trully unforgettably masterpiece. If you have not seen it - run to get it.
