After Christmas, they're out of all the good movies for some reason...Did catch "Picnic at Hanging Rock" and "Raging Bull" last month though.

This is a good list and little wonder that most of them are taken. What do you know about the Maborosi?
Netflix is a big scam.I and several of my friends tried the service from Dec 2000 to Feb 2001,and in this month they are ripping us off by almost $50 to 2 of us.
1. They first of all never let you have unlimited,as they claim that they have not returned your DVDs,and you can use the delayed in mail option for only one DVD.
2. Their DVDs often do not arrive on the dates they mention(even though they keep a 4 day-margin!!).Makes you wonder as to when they actually post them.
3. They claim they never received 4 DVDs and charged the guys for them(at outrageous prices).And despite repeated attempts(e-mails they never answer the question that if the receive a DVD later on do they acknowledge the same or not.
Believe me you are better off with a local store for renting DVDs.
I just started using Netflix.. I received the first DVD 2 days before they said it would be here (and I live in Nevada - NetFlix is in California!). I watched it last night, and dropped it in the mail today. I expect I'll receive another DVD to replace that one, by next Monday.
Meanwhile, I received two more DVDs today. So, if my calculations are correct, 3 DVDs a week, 4 weeks a month. That's 12 "rentals" for only $19.95 a month. That's certainly cheaper than a video store AND with no late fees!I'm happy so far..
I've been using Netflix for a almost two years now. Up until about 6 months ago, I was very pleased with their service. When they went to their new plan, the service has gone WAY downhill.Right now, all new releases have a status of, "LONG WAIT". It takes several months for the demand of the new releases to die down, before you'll ever get a new release. I have sent COUNTLESS emails to them complaining about this, and I always get the same response. "We are working with the studios in trying to get more titles. We are constantly trying to improve our service to you. Thank you for your enquiry.".
I wouldn't count on having 4 new movies every week. It often takes them 1 - 1.5 weeks to receive your DVDs once you send them back. Once they receive them, since your top picks will more than likely have a "LONG WAIT" status, they will wait at least 24 hours before sending the next movie. I've waited as long as 4 days for them to send the next movie in my queue. Then you wait another 3-5 days for the movie to arrive. So, quite often, from the time you send a movie in, till the time you get it's replacement, it's often 1.5 - 2 weeks later.
They have a great idea for a service here, but until they start carrying more copies of each title, it's not worth the money. I can run down the street and get the new releases. They're always in stock, and I don't have to wait 4 months to get them!
I concur with PeteD.On top of that, they've resorted to another of their stupid
schemes of late. For multi disc movies, they ship the discs
SEPARATELY ! Take "Lawrence of Arabia" for example. This is
a 2 disc set. You have to put each disc individually in the
queue. Then there is no guarantee that both will ship at the
same time. Whether you get disc 1 first or disc 2, you're
stuck.Of all the braindead ideas they have so far, this one takes
the cake.
My Japanese girlfiend wants to see it... she says the lead actor is good.
...certainly enough to justify looking it up.Best of luck with your list - it is unforutnate you have to go that far to get them, I can get them locally for $1 ea. Well, except for the Seventh Seal, and I would LOVE to see that one again.
And thanks for the new name - I will definitely check it out. Perhaps your girlfriend would settle for "Woman in the Dunes" in the meantime? A trully unforgettably masterpiece. If you have not seen it - run to get it.
