I am also in that particular minority. As an Angelino I can't see why any movie lover would rather stay at home and watch crappy DVDs. I understand that not every region is a s rich as Los Angeles when it comes to the big screen experience.

...your point about LA offering more choices in screening venues and variety of film fare is certainly worth noting. I suspect that most folks still like to go out to the movies ocassionally in spite of the increased number of annoyances (in addition to the aforemention babies, cell phones and gum on the floor & seats, there's the agonizing spate of "pre-show 'entertainment'" crapola that gets more offensive by the day). Because there are a lot of great movies available on DVD (and NOT all DVDs are "crappy") that aren't readily available for view at your local Bijou; especially for those of us who are into classic films, extended versions or Director's cuts. BTW, my wife and I still go to the cinema frequently, but I often find myself more interested in when a movie I really LIKE is coming out on DVD (see my system profile and you'll see why).

You forgot to mention sticky dried soft drinks,sticky charms, smashed milk duds.chocolate raisins and popcorn on the floor,not to mention an array of empty wrappers, boxes, cups, etc. Also probably other icky stuff in the porn
theaters, you could use your imagination here or check with Pee-Wee

it has goten over the top. Ironically this is a growing problem on DVDs.

Oh I get that and I am not suggesting one shoudl not buy and collect DVDs. I just don't get favoring the DVD experience over the Movie experience.

Well since I think the video medium is inherently crappy we disagree on all DVDs being crappy. give me the big screen any day. Since we have a rich revival house envirement here in L.A. I am always looking to see clasics on the big screen. But of course DVDs are a great resource." I just can't see myself dividing my resources between home theater and Home stereo. So all the money goes toward the stereo.
