I don't even think it's all that well done and yet I know I'm going to have to watch the remaining 20 episodes. My guesses so far as to what's really going on (sorry, I don't remember character names very well)...
I think the father of the other missing girl is in on whatevers happening.
I think the agent Keifer Sutherland had the affair with is the traitor even though it seems like she was cleared (and possibly the other woman, who's helping to decode stuff, is a traitor also).
I think the two male agent's (KS' boss and his former lovers current boyfriend) who seem like they could be in on it are actually stand up guys who will wind up (reluctantly, at first) helping KS when all is said and done

Follow Ups:
I couldn't agree more about the character of Kim-Elisha Cuthbert really is a lousy actress and her character is terminally blonde. The bad news is-although characters routinely meet untimely ends on this show, Kim isn't one of them. What happens to her between seasons 2 and 3 completely beggars belief. We're halfway through season 3, and it really is the weakest by far. I'm told season 4 is a near-complete redemption, we'll see.
Watching a season of 24 is little like boarding one of those coasters from hell at Magic Mountain-they'll be some thrills, along with the expected episodes of nausea. And, like the coaster, you can't get off until the ride ends.

After few episodes, you'll be rooting for someone to kill the idiot teen daughter.
many of the problems would be solved quickly or never arise. This would be more interesting if they were truly smart and were being outsmarted and had to dig in to get the upper hand in that regard but they make stupid mistake after stupid mistake, after stupid mistake...

Apart from the obvious fakes like Laura Craft, only one woman in a movie has ever seemed to me to use her head. Can't recollect the name, but it was *Russian* and she was trapped in a building controlled by certain unpleasant elements of the male gender. Man was she smart! Every move she made, made sense, in the sense of her spontaneously thinking it through. Nor were any airducts involved. Can anyone ID it for me? Say, from ten yeasrs ago...
...Jack's wife and especially the daughter Kim are real losers.Another fine character, as a person: Tony.
Stick with it.
no one seems to be very intelligent.

...aren't they all government workers?
The thing is I don't see too much street smarts. Jack getting the cop killed, leaving the car so findable in the compound when he found his family and getting the assassin stabbed, and Nina and Tony(?) leaving the first mole alone to kill herself are just 4 examples out of probably a dozen I've noticed so far.The whole thing going on with the Senator's family is like a bad soap opera and Nina's just flat. Smart? Okay, if I'm correct that she's a mole she's smat enough to keep that from them but how smart can they be if I figured that out right off the bat?

...this was the writers' first time out in the new format and as it was not known whether the program would succeed, the first 24 was plotted out only halfway. After its astonishing success came the annual renewals, along with tighter lines. That said, everyone agrees on the following:
1) The daughter Kim should be made to die in a most gruesome fashion, and soon.
2) The third year was rather weak.
3) The fourth year was the best so far -- Imagine! They *dare* to use Islamic terrorists! How... politically incorrect! The nerve! The protests! The Unreality!... Those people don't do that sort of thing...
And a couple of very moving memories: In the #4 two Arab brothers who run a sporting goods store find themselves taken over by the terrorists. And in #5 a very young, very frightened submariner (previously unknown to us, just a sailer at his station) receives instructions from Jack over the cellphone -- on how to approach a man from behind, grab him and slit his throat. Stunning moments, both.

...when something momentous happens to any of them, you understand the significance -- but only if you've not been skipping chapters. Plus you would miss such delights as the machinations of the President's wife Sherry, the fierce ongoing loyalties of two men in the Presidential staff, and Chloe's coming out of her shell. (Mary Ryskind is a breakout actress.)If however you're only in it for the thrill, be my guest.

(Which, by the way, is lots of fun.) You can discuss it as it progresses. Watching it the way you do, places you in a vacuum.I asked about work because I put something in the mail for you there over a week ago...
Ahhh. I haven't been there in about a week. One nice perk at this job is that I have the benefits of being a full time employee but only have to be at work when I'm on a project. I'll stop in today.

I enjoyed the first season and tried to watch the second when, suddenly, it all was so stupid it was unwatchable. I confess to watching Alias as well and prefer it - but then the main character is played by Jennifer Garner..
I'm getting to the "it all was so stupid it was unwatchable" phase about 1/2 through season 1.I guess the daughter is supposed to be this shows hottie but (besides being way too young to seriously look at her that way) the character is so vapid (and the actress so inept) that even that aspect winds up disappointing.

Agrggh... don't say... I watched the Dumb and Dumber.
Actually, the last few films I've watched at home were mostly because of this forum..."The Big Sleep"
"Since Otar Left"
"The Return"
"Sylvia"I felt like it was time for some mindless fun and now I'm going to have sit through 20+ hours of this crap! Dammit!!! The worst part is I have "Rashomon" sitting here unwatched and still went for "24"

I know exactly what you mean... we just finished watching a rather trashy Russian cop mini-series... you feel dumb wathing it, yet come back for the next episode. The big question always being "Will the hero finally get to screw the female lead?" He did not. Fortunately it is over now...
There's no sexual tension in the show at all, between anyone. Nope, I'm just hooked into a stupid plot-line that requires an enormous suspension of disbelief for one to take the ride. This'll be over soon enough as well but I'm starting to think that Dumb and Dumber might have been time better spent.
