And that, I think, was how it was spelled on the titles although I always thought it was Betty. Nevermind.
This utterly charming bio-pic about the famous pin-up model and almost innocent baondage queen is a delight and actually received an ovation on Friday night, although I must admit festival audiences here have taken to clapping almost any film.
Gretchen Moll has just the right mix of unknowing straightforwardness needed to play such an iconic figure.
The only slight criticism is that at the end, after finding Jesus, she still states "Adam and Eve only wore clothes after they had sinned" or something similar whereas everything I have ever read about suggests Ms Page has completely disowned her past.
Antway its a great film to go and see and will produce quite a lot of laughs.
Follow Ups:
but I did think it dragged a bit at times and it was horrible to watch her be so abused and I doubt that the porn/fetish world was as much sunshine and kittens as they made it out to be.Oh and Gretchen Mole? Hottie!!

Bar none.
Thanks for the mini-review Dave. We meant to see this in the theater, but it only ran for a week or so, then was gone.I'll put it in the que.
i don't think she has disowned her past since she's making money finally off all that merchandise and i've seen a picture with her and HUGH HEFNER when they had a party in her honor.BETTIE is how you spell her name but people get it wrong. i agree the movie is pretty good if on the light side.GRETCHEN is very good.
I saw an interview a few years ago after someone had tracked her down after she had walked awayf rom everything for so many years.
Maybe some income from all that stuff has softened her on it all.
The film is pretty light weight although I have no idea how the porn industry ran back then.
It certainly would be very different if she were a model now... but then I guess you could say the same about drugs...
Gretchen is very good in the role.
