it's not exactly original or ground breaking but it is pretty damned scary. They made nice use of the claustraphobia of being in a deep cave. The creatures were creepy. The action was chaotic in a very realistic and disturbing manner. The rawness of action and emotion was very compelling. The movie is relentless. Yes there are some bad cliches here and there. It also breaks down in certain areas when closely scrutinized for believability (aside form the obvious needed suspension of disbelief in creatures). Far from perfect but very very intense without being cheap. Highly recomended for those who enjoy the genre but have found most current offerings sadly lacking.

All in all, a pretty descent review. I haven't seen the flick yet (and won't) but the sequel for the journey back to the surface will, no doubt, be dubbed "Indecent".
I thought this was very good.
By the way, very few effects were used; the creatures are played by real actors.
Nice twist with the 'who are the real monsters'?
