I saw this in a movie theater in West L.A. when it first came to the U.S. Even if it wasn't a great story (which it is), the sheer visual beauty of this film makes it real "eye candy". Those COLORS(!) of the fabrics in the dye mill - I can't help but wonder if I was seeing one of those Chinese production Technicolor (IB) prints I know they're capable of making.
